In accordance with the will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, God assist him, to position Morocco among the leaders in several vital sectors, the Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX) recently launched the work of its B2B mission, which takes place from October 10-14, 2022 in the United States, in the presence of Mr. Abdelkader El Jamoussi, Consul General of Morocco in New York. And this, as part of its mobilization to educate exporters on the opportunities of the American market.

This mission aimed to promote three main sectors (agri-food, fish and local products) through the organization of over 200 business meetings with buyers and distribution chains. These meetings were also accompanied by on-site visits, such as:

– “Essex Market”, one of the largest markets in New York which brings together retailers, distributors, importers, wholesalers operating in the fresh and processed food sector. The visit to the Essex market was an opportunity for exporters to understand the market, its distribution network and to identify potential potential customers on the spot.

– A certification laboratory for food and cosmetic products that also offers support to operators to help them certify their products and export them to the USA.

“The American market is full of immense opportunities for Moroccan companies, as shown by the trade, which continues to grow”, explained Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, President of Asmex, adding that “Morocco is also full of potential and offers enormous opportunities. for investors as it is the main gateway to Africa, by air thanks to 16 international airports, and by sea, by 38 large ports, located on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, destined for trade “.

It should be noted that, despite the economic slowdown observed worldwide due to the pandemic, bilateral trade between the United States and Morocco recorded an astounding level, with a share of 33.5% of total imports and 9% of total imports. exports in 2021, rapidly progressing towards the records reached before the health crisis (38.2% of imports and 12.9% of exports in 2018).

Furthermore, the Kingdom is the only country on the African continent to have concluded a free trade agreement with Uncle Sam’s country, thus representing a hub for Africa and an economic partner of reference for the USA.
