/ world today news/ A possible loss of the presidential candidate of the left in the upcoming elections could lead to additional tension in the BSP, predicts Yuriy Aslanov, who resigned from the BSP Executive Bureau, but the party leader Cornelia Ninova did not accept it.
My resignation was publicly demanded by the party’s deputy chairman in numerous publications. This is the occasion, the reasons are different, Aslanov specified.
What is happening is an echo of the recently concluded congress where the change of leadership took place and this echo has left the party divided and will probably continue until the elections. It will die down if the candidate of the left wins, or transform into more tension after the election if he loses. This could also lead to a change in management, he commented.
Yuriy Aslanov also said that the party leadership will have to fight during the campaign with rumors about whose candidacy is gen. Radev. This opens a second front – internal, which is unpleasant for any campaign. We are now in conditions of many unknowns before the heated phase of the campaign, he added.
The sociologist commented on the delay of GERB’s candidacy for the presidential elections as follows: Knowing the manner of GERB, the act of announcing the candidacy will do almost 80% of the work. This does not mean that the outcome of the election will be clear. Surprises are always possible. Including large ones. At this point, if GERB loses the elections – it will be a big surprise. This will lead to transformations in the country, and may lead to early parliamentary elections.
Not a single presidential election in Bulgaria has been won in the first round. The main favorites were relatively equal and the runners-up scattered enough votes not to win during the first round, Aslanov pointed out.
The sociologist believes that the role of DPS is greatly exaggerated in relation to the presidential elections. The votes from DPS had a role in the election of Zhelyu Zhelev. In all other elections, the party’s role has been exaggerated, he said.
Aslanov believes that when determining the candidate of the left for vice president, one should start from the qualities of the presidential candidate. And let his strong qualities be strengthened, and the weak ones be extinguished.
