Asked to re-enter the office, Apple employees protest

CUPERTINO – Employees Apple opposed the new policy requiring them to return to the office three days a week from early September 2021.

In the protest, employees are calling for a more flexible approach, in which employees can still work from home if that’s what they want.

“We would like to take this opportunity to communicate a growing concern among employees. Apple’s policies regarding remote or flexible working locations, and the communications behind it, have prompted a number of our colleagues to resign,” they wrote in the letter. Verge, Sunday (6/6/2021).

“Without the inclusivity that flexibility brings, many of us have had to choose between family, health, being able to work well, or being part of the community. Apple ,” continued the letter.

The letter of protest comes two days after Apple boss Tim Cook sent a note to Apple employees saying they had to return to the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting in September.

Most employees can work remotely twice a week. They can also remotely for up to two weeks a year, subject to manager approval.

Compared to other technology companies such as Twitter and Facebook, Apple’s policy is indeed different.

While two other social media companies are allowing their employees to work from home forever, even when the pandemic is over, Apple instead asked his employees to return to work from the office.

The letter was addressed to Tim Cook, and started with a channel on Slack called ‘remote work advocates, which has 2,800 people. There were about 80 people involved in writing the letter.
