asked for trial for the stalker

TREVISO – Persecuted for two and a half years by a man who had suffered a foreclosure. To the point that the young civil lawyer was forced to change law firm, fearing that the threats of being kneecaped would become a dramatic reality. The two owners also ended up in the sights of the stalker, a 61-year-old from Farra di Soligo who bombarded the lawyers’ office, in via Avogari, right in the centre, with letters full of obscene insults. Not only that: the man even plastered the intercom and the plaque of the office with signs to the same effect: “You are female lawyers, you… and sleazy.” The Prosecutor’s Office has requested a trial for the alleged stalker: the man (defended by the lawyer Pio Ugo Ori) should have appeared before the preliminary hearing judge Marco Biagetti but the preliminary hearing was postponed to March 6 due to the criminal lawyers’ strike.

INSIGHTS

The story

The reason for so much resentment would be linked to a property seizure suffered by the 61-year-old in October 2020. The young professional had followed the procedure on behalf of the creditor company. The man would have interpreted that legal action as a wrong, to the point of taking revenge on the young lawyer (assisted by the lawyer Daria Bissoli). At first, the 61-year-old would have sent signed letters to the Treviso firm in which he complained about the treatment that had been reserved for him, using heated tones, without however crossing into the field of foul language and insults. As time passed, however, he would lose all hesitation, indulging in threatening letters full of sexual insults: “Bastard lawyers, you… in your spare time.” Until we get to the actual threats: “We wish the young lawyer whose legs would be fine to be cut off a life as cursed as she is cursed without respect…”.

That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. If up until that moment the professional had endured the hail of insults despite herself, in November 2021 she decided to change jobs, she was so scared for her own safety. In the meantime, the 30-year-old had already filed a complaint with the police. Those insults (seasoned with obscene drawings and blasphemous phrases) and those papers displayed on the public street had created more than one embarrassment for her on a personal level. Even the colleagues, owners of the studio, felt in danger, to the point of strengthening security measures by placing cameras in the building.

The proof

It was precisely the electronic eyes aimed at the entrance door of the studio that trapped the alleged stalker. The 61-year-old was identified despite acting misrepresented by wearing a hat and mask. Furthermore, according to the lawyers of the persecuted lawyers, the handwriting comparison between the first signed letters and the anonymous threatening letters leaves no room for doubt. To certify this, they are ready to ask for a handwriting expertise, in case the judge himself does not order it. The owners of the firm also appeared as civil parties, relying on their criminal lawyer colleague Matteo Scussat.
