Joao Felix quarrel with fans Atletico Madrid after being asked to injure a teammate, Antoine Griezmann.
The incident occurred outside Atletico’s training ground, Ciudad Deportiva Atletico de Madrid, on Thursday (16/9). Felix was greeted by the fans outside the gate after undergoing training.
A number of supporters then asked Felix to injure Griezmann during training. The request arose because some Atletico fans did not like the return of Griezmann.
“Joao, hurt Griezmann, like you didn’t do it on purpose,” said one fan.
Another fan said: “Joao, step on Griezmann, you have to hurt him. He can’t start in front of you.”
The words of a number of Atletico fans made Felix furious. The young Portuguese striker then replied to the supporters’ words.
“We have to respect Griezmann more,” Felix said Mark.
However, a number of supporters did not pay attention to Felix’s words. They still asked the former Benfica player to keep hurting Griezmann.
“Don’t forget to beat Griezmann’s shin, Joao,” said one fan as Felix left the training ground.
Griezmann returns to Atletico after two years away from Barcelona. Some Los Rojiblancos supporters are upset with the way the France international striker left Atletico.
Griezmann was jeered by supporters at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium when Atletico hosted FC Porto in the Champions League match, Thursday (16/9) early morning WIB.
Griezmann came on for Felix in the 56th minute. Previously, the former Real Sociedad player played badly when Atletico beat Espanyol in their debut match last weekend.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone defends Griezmann’s poor start with the team. Simeone hopes Griezmann will soon silence criticism.
“We hope he [Griezmann] getting better and able to respond to those who criticize him. He has challenges ahead and risks he has taken in the past,” Simeone said Football Espana.
