An avalanche of political developments is predicted after the withdrawal of Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou from the European ballot and the dismissal of the General Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior from the Ministry of the Interior and the removal of the head of the Hellenic Expatriate Department of the ND from this party position
PASOK is targeting ND president Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Maximos’ staff for the leak of personal data of Greeks abroad ahead of the European elections. At the same time, Harilaou Trikoupi calls on the Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos, to assume her responsibilities and essentially urges her to resign.
PASOK accuses the ND that, with the responsibility of the politics of the leadership and the Maximos Palace, it has turned the Ministry of the Interior into an electoral center.
At noon on Friday, PASOK-KINAl issued a statement in which it points out the following:
“Today, what we denounced from the beginning was confirmed: The New Democracy has turned the Ministry of the Interior under the political responsibility of the leadership and the Maximos Palace into its electoral center. Personal data of tens of thousands of emigrants reached its MEP through the General Secretary of the ministry and the Head of Emigration of the New Republic. The departure of Ms. Asimakopoulou from the European ballot paper concerns only her and cannot be considered as a release from her weighty responsibilities.
It is necessary to ensure the reliability of the electoral process and the integrity of the electoral data. According to the law, the competent minister, Ms. Kerameos, and the Ministry of the Interior. The minister must be held accountable for the data leak and take responsibility.
A responsibility that falls on her personally as the head of the Ministry of the Interior and is not transferred to general secretaries and other officials”.
