The ND MEP was present at the Plenary Session of the Personal Data Protection Authority Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou, to explain the scandal of leaking personal data of Greeks abroad. In addition to the current MEP, the former head of ND’s emigrants department, Nikos Theodoropoulos, who was removed after the outbreak of the “email gate” and according to information, indicated a party official as the source of the emails, was also present at the plenary session, but it has not yet been clarified moment, if he works in the party or the Ministry of the Interior.
Maximus exposed
It is noted that the source indicated by Theodoropoulos differs from the initial leaks of Megaros Maximos, that the source was an associate of the then general secretary of the Ministry of the Interior.
Huge security issues
In the plenary, the enormous security problems, institutional and personal, that exist in the Ministry of the Interior, which has not been harmonized with the GDPR even though sensitive personal data of citizens are kept, were highlighted.
All this, at a time when the opposition parties are also raising questions about the burglary of the personal office of the director of the Directorate of Elections of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, last Friday. The Ministry of Home Affairs tries to downplay the fact, but the opposition parties demand explanations and the resignation of minister Nikis Kerameos.
