Dangerous mosquitoes spread in Tyrol.
Austrian biologists have set up traps in which female mosquitoes lay their eggs. So they found signs that the Asian tiger mosquito is already overwintering in Tyrol. They note this in the online magazine “Plos Neglected Tropical Diseases”. The animals can transmit dangerous pathogens such as dengue and zika. Native mosquitoes are unable to do this.
