KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Asian bourses opened mixed in early trading Friday (23/10), with the majority of indexes weakening. At 08.20 WIB, the Nikkei 225 index rose 23.19 points or 0.10% to 23,499.02, Taiex gained 38.74 points or 0.30% to 12,955.08, the Kospi fell 7.41 points or 0.31% to 2,347.62, ASX 200 down 23.36 points or 0.38% to 6,150.20, Straits Times up 1.64 points or 0.07% to 2,529.54 and FTSE Malaysia down 1.55 points or 0.10% to 1497.25.
Asian bourses moved varied as investors were careful to wait for certainty on US stimulus talks and positive US economic data.
“There will be a positive bias on the tone of the Asian trade opening,” was quoted as saying Tom Piotrowski, market analyst at Australian brokerage CommSec. Reuters.
“But regional investors do not have to rely on those results, the market can move fast enough.”

US lawmakers sought to finalize a $ 2 trillion stimulus deal late Thursday, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying she and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had not spoken on that day.
US economic data surprisingly rose, as jobless claims fell more than expected and existing home sales exceeded forecasts to the highest level in more than 14 years.
On the other hand, the United States is also on the brink of a widespread coronavirus outbreak, with nearly two-thirds of the state in a danger zone with six reporting an increase in Covid-19 deaths in a single day as of Wednesday.
