Australian Ashleigh Barty, who leads the world rankings of female tennis players, has decided to end her professional career at the age of 25, writes MTI.
“I’m retiring from tennis. I’m so grateful for all the tennis tennis has given me, ”Barty said in a video uploaded to Instagram. You’ve got all the dreams from the sport, and a lot of other things, but you know, now is the right time to step in and chase other dreams.
“I will never, ever stop loving tennis. It’s a significant part of my life, but I think it’s important to be able to enjoy the next part of my life as an Ash Barty person and not as an Ash Barty athlete, ”she said.
Professional since 2010, Barty has triumphed individually in three Grand Slam tournaments: in 2019 at Roland Garros in Paris, last year at Wimbledon, and this year at the Australian Open. He has won a total of fifteen races, won 305 matches and won 102. He won in doubles at twelve tournaments, including the 2018 US Open, in three other GS races.
After winning the Australian Open in Melbourne on 29 January, he was no longer in any of the competitions. He announced in early March that he hadn’t rested himself since the Australian Open, so he would skip the Indian Wells and ongoing Miami races. At the time, he seemed to be continuing the season in the qualifier for the Billie Jean King (formerly known as the Fed) Cup in mid-April.
