Mumbai: Reportedly, the BCCI was considering former India player and Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra for the post of India’s coach. Nehra was approached but he showed no interest. BCCI decided to extend Rahul Dravid’s contract with this.

BCCI has asked Dravid to remain as the head coach till the upcoming T20 World Cup. There were also reports that captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar took the stand that Dravid should train the team till the World Cup.

The BCCI had asked Nehra to take the position as the coach of India’s T20 team. But he did not stop there.

Nehra’s feat of making Gujarat Titans the IPL champions on his maiden debut gave him the upper hand. Nehra also managed to lead the team to the finals in two consecutive seasons.

The crisis was eased when Dravid agreed to remain in the current position. Batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mambre and fielding coach T Dileep will continue along with Dravid.
