In September we will see if there will be higher levels of inflation, said Finance Minister Asen Vassilev during his visit to bTV Novinite.
According to him, anti-crisis measures are not pro-inflationary: “They would be if the budget deficit was growing, because it means that we will pour more money into the economy, creating a larger deficit what we do is the additional revenue that is expected, to return to the economy and to the most vulnerable groups on purpose. So from that point of view, they should not create additional inflation. “
The bread
The price of bread depends on the bread producers and the price of grain, which we know has dramatically risen along with the crisis with Ukraine, but what the state can do is not to increase the price of bread by 20%, said Minister Asen Vassilev.
According to him, from then on whether the bread producers will decide and these 20% will take them to increase profits or not, will be on their conscience.
Fuels
The excise tax on propane-butane is part of the excise tax on fuels, it is not methane and natural gas, respectively it cannot be reduced, as it is already at the minimum rate, said Asen Vassilev.
“We can release the excise tax on gas, as the total consumption of gas in the country’s energy mix is below 15% and we have the right to reduce it under a European directive. But for propane-butane, the 25 stotinki discount is also valid, so there should be no problem, as I think that the reduced VAT on gas, which we have put in place, will also apply, “Vassilev said.
He clarified that the measure is only for cars with Bulgarian coupons and this is an anti-crisis measure for Bulgarian citizens.
According to him, about 1 million families are expected to benefit from the measure.
“It is very important to say that the discounts are for the lowest fuel class, that is, if it is about gasoline – for A95, if it is about diesel – diesel without additives. That is, expensive cars that use a higher class of fuels will not take advantage of this discount, so it is really aimed at vulnerable groups who refuel cheaper, “added the Minister of Finance.
Pensions
The deficit in the National Social Security Institute will increase slightly, said Asen Vassilev: “It will return to about 50 to 50, as it was before – 50% self-financing, 50% financing from the state budget, which is not very sustainable over time, but is what we have from the very beginning of the pension system in Bulgaria. For one simple reason – you know that there was a period in which really everything that should have been accumulated to finance the pension system has disappeared, “said the Minister.
He added that currently half of the pensions are financed through the pension contributions, and the other half through the other budget revenues.
