/ world today news/ On the day that the “Night Wolves” arrived in Sofia and their visit turned into an event, one of the organizers of the protest against them – Asen Genov, had to go through the nearby Ministry of Internal Affairs department.
Genov was not summoned precisely as an organizer of the protest, but because of a report filed against him under two articles of the Criminal Code – one is under Article 162:
“Whoever, through speech, print or other means of mass information, through electronic information systems or in any other way preaches or incites discrimination, violence or hatred based on race, nationality or ethnicity, shall be punished with imprisonment from one to four years and with a fine of five thousand to ten thousand BGN, as well as with public reprimand”.
As evidence in the report, a publication on a website was used, according to which Genov called on social networks on the occasion of “Night Wolves”:
“This rubbish needs to be stopped and I will be among the people throwing stones at them. Because it won’t work with eggs. I call on Minister Daniel Mitov to deny the access of this Putin rubbish to Bulgaria.”
Article 163 was also cited in the report against Asen Genov:
“Persons who participate in a crowd gathered to attack groups of the population, individual citizens or their property in connection with their national, ethnic or racial affiliation shall be punished:
1. the instigators and leaders – with imprisonment for up to five years…”
But the most interesting text of the Criminal Code, according to which the state checks Asen Genov, is Article 329. (1) of the Criminal Code:
“An adult capable of working, who does not engage in community service for a long time, receiving non-labor income in an illegal or immoral way, shall be punished by imprisonment for up to two years or probation.”
This text is known among jurists as text about “harrassment of prostitutes”.
