The 2021 ASEAN Summit (Summit) in Jakarta was declared to be proceeding safely. Until Saturday (24/4) night, the ASEAN Summit delegates have returned to their respective countries safely.
“Almost all delegates and heads of state participating in the Asean Summit until 19.07 WIB, Saturday night 24/4 have left Indonesia,” said Kapendam Jaya Colonel Arh Herwin BS in an official statement on Sunday (25/4).
Kapendam Jaya said that eight of the nine delegations and the Heads of State participating in the ASEAN Summit had left Indonesia. Only the Philippine delegation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., is still in Indonesia. The plan is for Teodoro to return to Manila on Monday (26/4). There are a number of agendas that Teodoro will carry out in Jakarta.
During the ASEAN Summit, 35 Company-Level Units (SSK) of the TNI were deployed to secure the arrival and return of the Heads of State and the ASEAN Summit Country Delegations. The number of SSKs was placed in locations deemed vulnerable.
A total of eight SSK TNI conducted security at the lodgings of the Heads of State and State Delegations at the Fairmont, Grand Hyatt, Shangri-La, Raffles, Mulia, Mandarin Oriental and Ritz Carlton hotels.
The remaining 27 SSK TNI were divided into three locations, namely securing Soekarno-Hatta Airport, securing routes, and securing the objects of the ASEAN Summit in accordance with the directions of the Kasdam Jaya Assistant Chief of Staff, Asintel Kasdam Jaya, Dirops Polda Metro Jaya, and Dir Intel Polda Metro Jaya.
Apart from 35 SSK TNI there are also 28 Polda Metro Jaya. In practice these 63 SKKs collaborate in the security sector for ASEAN Delegates and Heads of State, especially the route from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the location of the stay and the ASEAN Summit is held.
In this conference it was agreed on five consensus, namely violence in Myanmar must be stopped immediately, there must be constructive dialogue to find a peaceful solution, ASEAN will facilitate mediation, ASEAN will provide humanitarian assistance through the AHA Center, and there will be a special ASEAN envoy to Myanmar.
The ASEAN summit was attended by nine delegates from Southeast Asian leaders, including Myanmar, namely Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chinh, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Also present were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines as Special Envoy for the Philippines Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand as Special Envoy for Thailand Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos as Special Envoy for Laos, Saleumxay Kommasith, and Commander of the Myanmar Military Junta General Min Aung Hlaing.
