The ASEAN Mini Bazaar is a much-awaited event for food and shopping enthusiasts, and this year, it is set to make spring even merrier in Gulshan 2. Packed with a wide range of food, fashion, and lifestyle products, the bazaar promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Get ready to indulge in tantalizing cuisines and shop for the latest trends and novelties as we take a closer look at the upcoming event.
The Asean Dhaka Committee (ADC) and Asean Ladies Association (ALA) collaborated to elevate the spirit of spring in Dhaka, by organizing the “Asean Mini Bazaar” at the Embassy of Indonesia on Sunday. The event aimed to expose Asean’s culture and gastronomy to the public and diplomatic communities in Dhaka.
The press release highlighted that the Mini Bazaar was organized to foster engagement amongst members of the diplomatic corps, and their families, especially those from Asean countries accredited in Dhaka. Embassy officials from several Asean countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam, participated in the Bazaar.
The Bazaar proved to be a great opportunity for visitors to appreciate and purchase various signature goods like handicrafts, traditional clothes and fabrics, scarfs, and beauty products. Astonishingly, the Bazaar’s visitors also got to indulge in traditional cuisines from each participating country at a very reasonable price. A unique aspect of the Bazaar was the famous Indonesian coffee that was accessible for anyone because it was “Pay as You Like!”.
The event commenced at 10:30 am and opened with Mdm. Fahmina Zabeen, the president of Foreign Officers Spouse Association (FOSA) of MOFA Bangladesh, was invited as the Chief Guest. Head of Missions (HoM) of Asean countries accredited to Dhaka, including His Excellency Leo Tito L Ausan Jr, ambassador of the Philippine to Bangladesh and the current chairman of the HoM ASEAN Dhaka Committee (ADC), also attended the event.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh and Nepal, Heru Hartanto Subolo and Mdm Sinta Ekawati Subolo, as the host, warmly welcomed and indulged around 300 visitors. The Indonesian Embassy Lobby fittingly served as the Bazaar’s venue, where visitors enjoyed the official performances, cultural dances performed by Indonesian dancers. The Bazaar ended with the beautiful and lively performance of Poco-Poco and Maumere dancing together.
Overall, the event was a success, and visitors enjoyed the spring vibes, shopping, finger-licking food, and outstanding cultural performances, promoting intercultural appreciation and diplomatic relations between Asean countries and Bangladesh.
