Canadian Firms Team Up with ASEAN Energy Center to Tackle Regional Energy Needs
A new partnership aims to boost clean energy development in Southeast Asia. The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), paving the way for enhanced collaboration in the region’s burgeoning energy sector.
This collaboration is significant as Southeast Asia grapples with surging energy demand while simultaneously striving to transition towards more sustainable sources. "This collaboration will enable Canadian businesses to share innovative solutions to the ASEAN region’s energy needs, including transitioning to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources, and addressing growing energy demand across the region," said Wayne Farmer, President of the CABC.
The MoU highlights a shared commitment to supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC), a crucial framework guiding the region’s energy future. “We believe that this MOU will advance public-private partnerships in the energy sector, especially through supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC),” commented Beni Suryadi, acting executive director of ACE.
Among the key areas of focus will be capacity building, ensuring that Southeast Asian nations have the expertise and resources needed to effectively implement clean energy technologies and navigate the transition process.
