The Salvadoran Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, will carry out next Sunday, October 24, a walk to the top of the Ilamatepec Volcano, in Santa Ana, focused on the prevention of breast cancer, which affects women so much.
Marta Moya de Merlos, informed that to carry out this activity they will leave at 6:00 am from the National Institute of Sports (INDES), and will make a first station in a private complex of cabins, known as Tibet, this is where they go to leave the vehicles parked, and then start the walk towards the summit of the Santaneco massif.
«We are already ready a group of 60 women, a figure that could increase a little more in the remaining week, to make this ascent to the top of the aforementioned volcano, our objective is to raise awareness in Salvadoran women about the importance of taking exams doctors in time to combat this lethal disease, “said Marta, one of the organizers.
To do this, she added that before climbing to the summit of Ilamatepec, a doctor specializing in this disease will give a talk to the entire group of women, about how the high incidence of cancer can be prevented, once it has been detected.
“This is the first time that as a federation we are organizing an activity of this nature and with this objective, so we are pleased to say to all the participants that all the logistics part has already been defined,” he said.
Regarding the invitation that has been extended to the different media, Marta de Merlos, explained it is with the purpose that they can also become aware of what this disease means and how it can affect the entire family group, when one of Its members suffer from it, for that reason the fact that any action that leads to combating it can be disclosed, becomes more relevant.
