ASAP Relli sued ASAP Rocky and his lawyer for defamation regarding the alleged 2021 shooting involving the former band members.
Terell Ephron, better known as ASAP Relli, filed a lawsuit against Rocky and his lawyer for defamation. This comes nearly two years after ASAP Rocky was accused of shooting Relli after a heated argument in Los Angeles. Relli alleges that Rocky and his attorney, Joe Tacopina, used the media to launch a damaging media campaign against him following the shooting. He feels they tried to paint him as a liar who was just trying to extort money from Rocky, according to Complex. It should be noted that Relli hired Camille Vasquez who also represented Johnny Depp against Amber Head.
Last August, Rocky pleaded not guilty to criminal allegations stemming from the alleged shooting. Tacopina released a statement to TMZcalling the lawsuit a “publicity stunt.”
“It’s actually just a publicity stunt that will backfire on us. I am more than satisfied with this trial, especially since the resolution of the criminal case has not yet taken place. This opens this extortionist up to sworn testimony now before the criminal case is resolved. This will expose the fraud he committed and unfortunately for his lawyers, it will cause them to bear the legal costs in this case. They do not know the facts of this case or the actions taken by their client. But I will be more than happy to educate them.
Legal documents point out that Tacopina’s press campaign for the criminal case is the cause of the lawsuit. Additionally, after Tacopina appeared in the press whenever possible, Relli claims he began receiving death threats and mockery. When accusing a celebrity of a crime, fans are always sure to come knocking on your door to defend their idol. Relli is reportedly seeking unspecified damages.
