At 2.00 pm, a state of alert was declared in all Tajik security forces, numbering 230,000 men, on the orders of President Emomali Rahmon.
These are the most ambitious maneuvers of their kind in the history of the Tajik state.
The exercise tests the combat capability of all weapons in the Tajik army, including aviation and artillery.
With the start of the final withdrawal of a foreign military contingent from Afghanistan, Taliban insurgents have launched large-scale offensive operations, seizing large areas of control, including on the Tajik border.
20,000 troops have already been sent to reinforce units already on the border with Afghanistan.
The maneuvers ended with debts accepted by Rahmon, who declared that the Tajiks were “ready to protect peace and stability” in the region.
“The situation in our neighboring country, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, especially in the northern regions bordering our country, remains extremely difficult and unclear,” the president said. “It’s getting more complicated day by day and even hour by hour.”
Earlier this week, Russia announced plans to conduct military maneuvers with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan on the Afghan border in the near future.
