Mulyono is the first driver Gojek with registration number 001. The man who was born in Sragen on May 12, 1969, has become part of the history of Gojek’s development from being rejected everywhere until now becoming a decacorn.
Then, are there any privileges that Mul gets as a Gojek 001 driver?
“What’s special in terms of what… actually if I say no, it’s the same. It’s just that every time there’s an event with Gojek, I’m always involved. That’s one of Gojek’s forms of appreciation for me. It’s special there anyway,” Mul said to detik.com written Wednesday (22/6/2022).
When asked, what things have been obtained while being a driver GojekHe admits that he is very grateful and enjoys his life right now. From his income, he is able to pay for his children’s schooling, to buy a house even through credit.
“Hahahaha.. if you ask me what I’ve bought. Actually I don’t have anything. I can’t buy anything. I’m quite grateful and I enjoy life, I can raise my children, I can send my children to school it’s already a very extraordinary material. Maybe at that time, if I was still supporting, my child would not necessarily be able to go to school. Now this is also an asset, in this sense it is my achievement in buying a house even in installments. I chose to buy a house in Bekasi, I think about my son’s place of work, which isn’t too far from here. I also think that if I take a house in Depok, in Tangerang, the access is too far from my child’s place of work.” Mul said.
Previously, Mul and his family for 12 years could only rent in the Condet area, Jakarta. Another reason why he prefers to buy a house in Bekasi is because he can’t afford to buy a house around Jakarta whose price is already above Rp 500 million.
“If I take a house in Jakarta, I can’t afford it, I take a house on the outskirts. With the installments I can afford, I have to go out in Jakarta. It’s impossible for me to take a house in Jakarta, the price is already over Rp 500 million.
One special thing that became Mul’s most memorable experience was being able to sit side by side, with President Jokowi to the rows of ministers.
“The most memorable thing was being able to sit side by side with President Jokowi in 2018, the moment of the Nusantara ojol gathering in Kemayoran. That, I was like a dream side by side with Pak Jokowi, next to me the Minister. At that time there were friends from other applicators, but beside him, Mr. Jokowi and the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya. And behind him there are also many ministers. Well, that was a moment that I didn’t think of. Until I pinched my hands, was this a dream?,” said Mul.
“Maybe that’s the highest achievement for me. I’m basically a parent, and I’m an uneducated person. That’s the second time I met Pak Jokowi, when Gojek’s partner was the champion in 2019, he still remembers me. And that’s a great pride,” he added. Mul while placing his hand on his chest.
He also added that the most material he got from Gojek, is to get to know friends in Indonesia. In fact, Mul admitted that almost all of his fellow Gojek drivers knew him. Mul is also active and founded the Driver Oriental Indonesia (DOI) community, 4 years ago. Until now, SOI has had its chapters in all Gojek offices in Indonesia. According to Mul, this has also become his greatest treasure.
Interestingly, the invitation from Gojek friends and Gojek events allowed Mul to travel around Indonesia for free.
“Oh yes, I can ride a plane. I’ve never been on a plane, I was invited by the Gojek team during the moment of knitting the archipelago in 2019. I got to Makassar. And when I was on the plane, I thought about all of our sins, 2 hours was gone I was very scared. Because of the invitation from my friends, I was almost able to go around cities in Indonesia, such as Surabaya, Semarang, Solo, I could travel for free,” he said with a smile.
Mul revealed that he will continue to be a Gojek driver as long as he is able to carry a motorbike and serve customers. In fact, discussing Gojek is a very emotional thing for him.
“If asked how long, I don’t know myself. But, maybe if I can no longer ride a motorbike I will retire. As long as I can still drive a motorbike, as long as I am able to serve customers well and I will still be a Gojek. Because if Talking about Gojek, I am very emotional. Without Gojek, I deny that I have a role, even though the value is not much. But I have played a role in raising Gojek to date. And it became emotional for me, “concluded Mul.
