AS Roma hosted Verona at the Olimpico, Sunday (21/1/2024) early morning WIB, in the continuation of the Italian League. The hosts immediately tried to control the flow of the match after kick-off.
However, Verona was the first to record an attempt on target in the 17th minute. Tomas Suslov rushed from the middle and fired a shot which was easily saved by Rui Patricio.

GOAL! Roma took the lead in the 20th minute. Lorenzo Pellegrini grabbed the ball in the middle then passed to Stephan El Shaarawy.
El Shaarawy passed two players and passed the ball to Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku calmly threw the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.
GOAL! Roma doubled their lead five minutes later. Lukaku sent the ball to the far post from the right, but El Shaarawy failed to control it. Pellegrini was in the right position to receive the ball, then kicked hard into the top left corner of the goal.
Another chance from Roma in the 30th minute. Dean Huijsen escaped in a dead ball situation, but his shot was narrow to the right of the goal.
Verona scored a goal in the 56th minute, but it was disallowed. Michael Folorunsho was judged to have violated Rick Karsdorp by pushing him to the ground, before heading the ball into the goal.
Penalty! Verona won a penalty after Milan Djuric’s header hit Diego Llorente’s arm. But Djuric’s execution soars!
GOAL! Verona really narrowed the gap in the 76th minute. Folorunsho’s hard kick from outside the penalty box failed to be stopped by Patricio.
Verona pressed Roma in the remaining time, but Roma managed to contain their guests. I Lupi also won 2-1 and temporarily rose to seventh position with 32 points from 21 matches. Meanwhile, Verona is stuck in 18th place.
