AS Roma will not exercise purchase option in Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract, sending Dutch midfielder back to Paris Saint-Germain

AS Roma will not exercise the purchase option in Georginio Wijnaldum’s contract. That reports Sky Sport Italia. The Dutch midfielder therefore returns to his hopeless situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 32-year-old midfielder has not come out well in the Italian capital. His start was marked by a nasty injury that sidelined him for a long time and also cost him the World Cup. Yet trainer José Mourinho also used him little when Wijnaldum returned from his injury. He made a total of fourteen Serie A appearances this season.

Roma can take over Wijnaldum from the Parisians for nine million euros, but they see no need for that. He also played few duels in Paris and it seems that he will not immediately qualify for a starting place there. AS Roma will replace Wijnaldum Houssem Aouar on a free transfer from the French Olympique Lyon.
