The Turkish team had more ball possession and shooting advantage during the whole match. His players scored seven times between three poles, but only Andreas Cornelius scored 1 – 1 in the 64th minute. The guests fired just two shots between the three poles and both ended up behind the back of goalkeeper Ugurcana Cakira.
“It was a very challenging match, even and we definitely deserved not to lose. It’s a pity … We showed great quality and played a very good duel. We have something to build on. We need to regenerate well for Monday’s home league match,” said the 34-year-old midfielder, who played the entire match, for his official website.
The result was the joy of the new coach of the host Jose Mourinho, for whom it was the winning premiere on the AS bench. “It didn’t feel like an opponent at the EKL level, I rather felt it was a playoff for the Champions League. They have a lot of experienced players. There was pressure and if anyone thought it would be easy, they were wrong.” the Portuguese coach told Sky Sport Italia.
