AS Roma Qualifies for Europa League Final by Beating Bayer Leverkusen 0-0

AS Roma continue step to Europa League final. The team Jose Mourinho curb Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 in the semi-final second leg, to qualify on aggregate.

AS Roma travels to Bayer Leverkusen headquarters at BayArena, Friday (19/5/2023) early morning WIB, in the second leg of the semifinals. The Italian representative came in with a 1-0 lead thanks to a win at home in the first meeting.

Leverkusen immediately showed his intention to score goals from the start. But AS Roma appeared tight and disciplined in defense, not leaving many gaps for the hosts.


No goals were created until the game was over. AS Roma also won a ticket to the Europa League final which will be held at the Puskas Arena, Budapest, 31 May.

Roma will face the winner Juventus vs Sevilla, which until this news was revealed has continued to the extra round.

Course of the Match

Roma spread threats at the start of the match, with Lorenzo Pellegrini’s low kick still wide. Leverkusen threatened again but Moussa Diaby’s shot in the 12th minute just hit the post!

Another effort from Leverkusen also failed to produce results in the 36th minute. Sardar Azmoun’s shot was aimed at Patricio. The first half finished goalless.

Leverkusen started the second half by increasing the intensity of the attacks. Meanwhile, Roma intend to strengthen their defense even more with the entry of Georginio Wijnaldum to replace Andrea Belotti.

Azmoun’s header in the 66th minute was still right into Patricio’s arms. Demirbay’s shot was soon pushed over by the Roma goalkeeper and Gianluca Mancini saved the ball before being struck by Azmoun.

Leverkusen continues to press Rome. Jonathan Tah’s shot hit Nemanja Matic and ended on the side of the goal. While the chances of Azmoun grabbing a wild ball also widened.

Rome’s persistent defense lasted until the game was over. Leverkusen were unable to score an equalizing goal until the long whistle sounded.
