This Sunday, AS Monaco received LOSC for a more than crucial match for their qualification for the next edition of the Europa League, an entertaining match which ended in a goalless draw (0-0). Before facing Lyon, the Monegasques face some problems.
AS Monaco only managed to get a draw against Lille, a match during which everyone knew how to create good situations and the Monegasques were able to count on the lack of realism of their northern opponents to keep their ahead of them.
Next week, Philippe Clément’s men will travel to Parc OL to ensure (or almost) their 4th place synonymous with accession to the next Europa League, but before going to Lyon, the ASM has reason to be skeptical.
Several holders absent?
Déjà deprived of Wissam Ben Yedder, Mohamed Camara and Guillermo Maripán when receiving LOSC, AS Monaco had to add to these absences that of Kevin Volland and Krepin Diatta.
If Mohamed Camara should undoubtedly make his return against Lyon, the situation of the four other absentees leaves something to be desired, Wissam Ben Yedder hasn’t appeared on the scoresheet in the last two matches (suspension + dismissal by the coach), just like Guillermo Maripán. The returns of Kevin Volland and Krépin Diatta during the trip to Lyon are hypothetical, already injured in the knee during the 35th day, the latter had observed the match from the stands. Moreover, during the post-match conference, their coach Philippe Clément said: “Kevin and Krépin were affected in the knee, we did a test this morning, but it was not possible to play today. I hope to get them back next week”.
Their return date is unknown. and the longer they delay, the more the danger around the Rocher club will grow, because the confrontation against Lyon promises to be tough, moreover, LOSC is not definitively excluded from the race for 4th place.
