AS Monaco coach Philippe Clement will not be able to have Myron Boadu against PSV on Tuesday. The Orange youth international is missing from the selection of the Ligue 1 club due to a foot injury.
The 21-year-old Boadu has had a difficult first season since Monaco took him over from AZ. The striker had to make do with a role as a substitute and scored six goals in 42 games in all competitions.
Defender Benoît Badiashile and attacker Sofiane Diop are part of the Monaco selection. The two struggled with an injury last week, but were found fit enough during the final training on Monday.
Trainer Clement is impressed by what PSV showed against Ajax on Saturday during the match for the Johan Cruijff Scale. The 48-year-old Belgian took a good look at the game, which was won 3-5 by the Eindhoven team.
“Scoring five times in Amsterdam is very clever,” he said during his press moment on Monday. “We already knew that PSV has a very strong team. But we also want to go to the group stage of the Champions League. And of course we see opportunities.”
The match between AS Monaco and PSV will be played in Stade Louis II and starts on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The return in Eindhoven is exactly a week later at the same time. The winner of the double encounter qualifies for the play-offs of the Champions League.
