As all roads lead to Rome, so Turkey must become an energy center – 2024-09-15 06:00:29

/ world today news/ Turkey is obliged to use its geographical position in order to get the maximum benefit from the transit of energy carriers, said the Prime Minister of the country Ahmed Davutoglu.

“The Turkish economy is growing, the need for energy resources is also growing. We do not own energy sources, but we are at the crossroads of energy roads and can benefit from the transit of energy carriers. Just as all roads lead to Rome, so should Turkey to become a place through which all routes for the supply of energy sources pass,” Davutoglu said at a meeting with ambassadors in the capital of Macedonia – Skopje, TRT TV channel reports, quoted by RIA Novosti.

Among the countries from which Turkey could transit energy carriers, Davutoğlu pointed to Russia, with which, according to him, relations are now developing and “experiencing their best period in the last 500 years.”

“Our good relations with the EU – this does not mean bad relations with Russia. In connection with the crisis in Ukraine, there is a need to look for other ways to supply gas, and we are now considering Russia’s proposals on this occasion. Turkey, by virtue of its geographical situation, can provide the easiest way to deliver energy carriers where they are needed,” Davutoglu added. / RIA Novosti
