Excited, sincere and visibly moved. Thus, in an almost unprecedented capacity, very human and a little less professional, Alberto Matano tells a part of himself to the public de Life live.
On the air there is a service, it tells all the episodes of homophobic violence that have occurred in Italy over the years. The service closes and you go back to the studio. The shot is close to the face of Alberto Matano, seated at the large table in the de studio Life Live. The shot tightens on the very narrow first floor, the conductor looks into the camera, the voice reveals a hint of emotion. The recently concluded file made an impressive list of violent episodes, boys who are beaten because they walk hand in hand, insulted couples, boys forced to move house because they are not welcome in condominiums. Stories that make even more unbearable the images of many senators who rejoice in the moment in which the DdL Zan was sunk.
Matano, without hesitation, looking into the room he talks to his audience: “I have to tell you – he tells – that stories like these hurt me particularly because it happened to me too, when I was a teenager, I tried it on my skin and so I know what it means . And so – he continues – I hope that with the help of everyone on such an important issue there can be a supplement of reflection, we also owe it to the people we have just seen ».
A courageous choice by Matano, who probably in an attempt to make Italian public opinion understand how important it is to have a law along the lines of the Zan DdL, shares some episodes of his own adolescence, which he had never told before.
