As a result of US sanctions, Huawei switches its business to pig farming

Suara.com – The decision by the United States (US) government to block export of components, makes the smartphone business Huawei getting worse. To overcome this, Huawei will use its smart technology to develop its business pig farm and the coal industry.

This is because China has the largest pig farming industry and is home to half of the world’s pigs.

By leveraging technology from Huawei, they will modernize pig farms with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for disease detection and tracer pigs.

In addition, Huawei is also making facial recognition technology to identify each pig.

Other technologies are also used to monitor the animal’s weight, diet and exercise.

“Pig farming is another example of how we are trying to revitalize some traditional industries with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to create more value for the industry in the 5G era,” said a Huawei spokesperson. BBC, Sunday (21/2/2021).

Apart from Huawei, other Chinese tech giants such as JD.com and Alibaba, have teamed up with pig breeders in China to bring new technology.

Not only pig farming, Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei also announced the creation of a mining innovation laboratory in Shanxi Province, China.

Zhengfei said he wanted to develop technology for coal mines that would produce fewer workers, be safer and have higher efficiency.

He also mentioned that coal miners would be able to wear shirts and ties when working.

Furthermore, Zhengfei stated that the company will also expand into smart products such as televisions, computers, and tablets.

“We can still survive, even without depending on smartphone sales,” Zhengfei said.
