Arvind Kejriwal Accuses Election Commission of Refusing Voters’ Data Upload

AAP Alleges Election Commission’s Transparency ⁤Shortcomings in Delhi Polls

New ‍delhi: In a contentious turn of‍ events, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief ⁣Arvind Kejriwal has accused the Election Commission of refusing⁢ to upload crucial ‌voting data from the‍ recent Delhi⁤ assembly election.⁤ The ‌votes, ‍cast on Wednesday, are slated to be counted tomorrow, adding urgency to the transparency concerns ⁤raised by Kejriwal.

“EC has refused to upload Form 17C⁣ and the number of votes polled per booth in ‌each assembly‌ despite several requests,” Kejriwal stated in a post on X. He further elaborated, “Aam Aadmi party has created a website, transparentelections.in, where we have ⁢uploaded all the Form 17C of ‍every assembly. This ⁣form contains all the details of votes polled in each booth.”

Form 17C, as outlined in ⁣the Conduct ⁢of Election Rules, 1961,‌ is a ‌vital document that includes the total ⁣number of votes recorded on polling ‌day and other essential details, as well as the number ‌of votes for each⁣ candidate, ⁢which are crucial for determining election results.

Kejriwal emphasized the importance of transparency,‍ stating, “Through the day, we will present the data of every assembly and‍ every booth in ⁢a tabulated format so that every voter can access⁤ this data. this is ⁣something that ⁣the Election ⁣Commission should have done in the interest of transparency, but it‍ is indeed unfortunate that they are refusing⁢ to do ⁣it.”

The AAP’s move to create a website for transparency‌ comes as the party ‍seeks ‌a third⁤ consecutive⁢ win⁢ in the ‌national capital. However, exit polls⁣ have‌ painted a different ‌picture, giving an upper ⁣hand to‍ the BJP,with many ⁣predicting the BJP crossing the majority mark⁣ in the ‍70-member ⁢house of ‍the Union Territory. It is indeed worth noting that health warnings advise that exit polls frequently enough get it wrong.

AAP ‌leader Gopal Rai expressed ‌confidence in⁣ the ⁣party’s prospects, stating that they are expecting to win‍ 50 seats based on⁤ estimates ⁣from AAP candidates’ ⁣ground ‌reports. This number, while important, is much lower than the near-complete sweep the ‍AAP achieved in the last Delhi election.
