Last Sunday, the cultural association Arts vivants, chaired by Marie-Neige Justafré, organized a concert for the benefit of medical research in ophthalmology as part of the operation Thousand chœurs pour un regard of the Retina France association.
The village hall was full, including the balconies, with more than 200 people present, many of whom came to support their family members or chorister friends.
It is in a friendly atmosphere that a total of six choirs take place on the stage (enlarged for the occasion with a podium).
It was the Bages Villeneuve-de-la-Raho Vocal Ensemble that gently opened the ball in the classical register. There Gypsies of The Traviata by G. Verdi was much appreciated and the interpretation of the Psalm of creation gripped the room with emotion. The children of the Chanterie de Thuir then conquered the public with their freshness and joy of singing. Hugstraditional Congolese song, and Virginia compagnieexcerpt from Pocahontas, were warmly applauded.
For its part, the André Dunyach choir from Argelès-sur-Mer won over with its interpretation of Libertango by Astor Piazzolla, et flower time by Boris Formine sung in chorus by the audience.
The teenagers of the Thuir cantilena then sang excerpts from the musical Starmania.
Then it was the Chorale sang et or d’Arles-sur-Tech which presented a more traditional register with a remarkable interpretation of the Hallelujah Leonard Cohen.
Finally, the Algo’rythmes choir delighted with its interpretation of Dancing queen of the Abba group, of Leave by Julien Clerc and Bohemian by Charles Aznavour.
For the finale, the choirs gathered sang Ultreia et Suseia.
After more than two hours of singing, the choristers and the public gathered around a glass of friendship offered by the municipality in the presence of Marie Cabrera, the mayor.
The concert raised a sum of €500 in donations which will be donated to Retina France.
