The deadline for submitting projects to the competition ended on September 14, and 41 projects were submitted, LLMC representatives informed. –

According to the jury’s assessment, the following environmental objects will be implemented in the public spaces of Riga and the cities of the region:

  • “Blue mound of fog” (Anna Līva Traumane, Harijs Vucens; Riga, Imanta, Anniņmuiža)
  • “Your fatigue is not your fault” (Miķelis Mūrnieks, Henriks Elias Zēgners; Riga, various places)
  • “Beasts do not forget!” (Aija Baumane-Līce; Riga, Agenskalns, Youth Garden)
  • “Metamorphoses” (Krista and Reinis Dzudzilo; Riga, Opera Square)

  • “Stop: Rucka” (“Nomad Architects”; Cēsis, Rucka Park)
  • “VA (Various Artists)” (Zahars ZE, Nameda Zemīte, Alvis Bergards; Valmiera)
  • “Robot Kitten Henry XIII” (GolfClyderman; Madonna)
  • “Wind Pavilion” (Ēriks Božis; Liepāja)

The projects were evaluated by a jury of seven people: Selga Laizāne (Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture for the Centenary of Latvia), Guntars Ruskuls (Head of the Strategic Management Department of the City Development Department of Riga City Council), Daina Auziņa (Head of the Latvian Visual Arts Department of the Latvian National Museum of Art) , Solvita Krese (director of the Latvian Center for Contemporary Art), Santa Hirsch (art critic), Krišs Salmanis (artist), Evelīna Ozola (architect, urban planner, director of the “Fold” platform).

“I am glad that the program aroused so much interest among artists, as a result of which a total of 41 projects were submitted for evaluation. The applications were very diverse and each had its own strengths. The task of the jury – to select 10 feasible objects – was very difficult, because a number of well-designed and worthwhile projects had to be abandoned.

I hope that the authors of the unsupported objects in this program will look for other opportunities to realize their ideas and see the light of day with the help of other projects and funding.

The wide range of applications allowed the jury to select the most appropriate projects for the nature of the “Together” program. It is especially gratifying that half of the supported projects will be implemented outside Riga, as well as the authors of the objects are both stable and proven, as well as the younger generation of artists, designers and architects. I hope that in the middle of November, when the objects will be handed over for public evaluation, they will also delight others “, says Līga Lindenbauma, the head of the” Together “program, about the results of the competition.

In the coming weeks, the website of the Latvian Center for Contemporary Art and social network accounts with interviews and visualizations will reflect the creation of objects, reveal the story of each object and the jury’s justification for their implementation. In the middle of November, there will be an “Object Parade” – the opening and acquaintance of the implemented projects in life, in which every inhabitant of Latvia will be invited to participate.
