There is a great willingness in the cultural scene to help artists who have been particularly hard hit by the flood disaster, says Eleonore Hefner from the Kultur-Rhein-Neckar association. More and more artists are offering their own works to the association, which are then handed over in return for a donation. You can’t use the money to replace a destroyed life’s work, but it’s important to show solidarity and sympathy.
“I know a number of artists who gave up, even during the pandemic,” says Eleonore Hefner. Because the situation of cultural workers is precarious even in normal times, as an artist you are constantly threatened with extinction. Especially in Germany, which is better off than in any other country, culture will have to be dealt with differently in the future, according to Hefner.
If you want to donate, you can find more information on the Website of the Rhein-Neckar Culture Association.
