The Musical Professions Syndicate, headed by the artist Mustafa Kamel, summoned the artist Mahmoud Al-Laithi and the artist Reda Al-Bahrawi, in the presence of members of the Board of Directors and representatives of legal affairs.
On Monday evening, a session was held that brought together the head of the Musicians Syndicate, the artist Mahmoud Al-Laithi, and the artist Reda Al-Bahrawi, to investigate them regarding the phrases, popular proverbs, and slogans used during the performance of their artistic segments, which harm art and societal values, according to the union’s statement.
The union’s statement said: “Actions that require punishment in accordance with the articles of Law No. 35 of 1978 and allow the General Syndicate to cancel membership and in implementation of what the General Syndicate, artist Mustafa Kamel, has insisted on since he took office, the necessity of improving public taste and holding accountable everyone who exceeds the limits of professional ethics. During the investigations, both of them admitted to mistakes.” They apologized for these actions and pledged not to repeat them, and the legal affairs investigations ended with their conviction and the imposition of penalties on them in preparation for presenting them to the General Syndicate and the Board of Directors.”
Then came the decision of the General Syndicate, Mustafa Kamel, to summon them to his office immediately after the end of the investigations, in the presence of the council members, the artist Hilmi Abdel Baqi, the maestro Muhammad Abu Al-Yazid, Dr. Ahmed Abu Al-Majd, the artist Mansour Hindi, and the artist Khaled Bayoumi. A friendly session was held that ended with them accepting their apologies and their written pledge not to repeat them.
They promised the President to clear the atmosphere and end the state of quarrels between them, and the President and the Council contented themselves with signing declarations and pledges not to repeat such incidents and actions. During the session, the artist Mustafa Kamel affirmed his insistence that the General Syndicate and its General Assembly remain one family surrounded and governed by ethical controls and standards and a spirit of fellowship and respect. Community values and not offending the modesty of Egyptian families.
