With David, everything turns into poetry. With it, the smallest object has a second life. Its shelter is also made entirely of recycled objects. The artist, without a fixed address, was not content to live in a tent but he created a real moving castle which floats on the Garonne. ” I care about it. It proves that you can do beautiful things with very little in the end,” he says.

For a year, David has been pacing to the rhythm of the river. On his raft, which he hangs on the small sandy beaches, he is satisfied with very little. A tree trunk serves as a chair. And a board serves as a table. “I often say that all I need is a bed, light and my library. The rest I can do without,” smiles the artist. Today, he only makes his living by selling the small figurines he makes on the banks of the Garonne. With a paddle, he transports his installation a few kilometers per week
A life on the bed of the Garonne
David plans to travel the river with his traveling raft to the Atlantic. “If I’m ambitious, I can even say that I would go as far as New York,” he smiles. “If I’m more reasonable, I’ll stop at the beginning of the ocean, rent a truck with a trailer and start an adventure again in a new river,” David envisions. He’s not going to return to any semblance of “normal” life any time soon.
The artist does not want to relive the ordeal of previous years. Before living in the floating castle, David had a tidy daily life. “I worked in the Alps and I had an apartment in Toulouse. He finished squatting and the occupants threw away all my personal belongings,” recalls the homeless man. Even if he doesn’t miss his objects, he would still like to find some memories: “At the time I was writing a book. It was hours and hours of work. It’s a shame to have lost everything,” regrets David.
