Almost all of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work was temporary. For example, the two erected a 39-kilometer fence in California, called the Running Fence, in 1976. The development and construction of the work took four years. After fourteen days they removed the work and there was no trace of it. The Pont Neuf bridge in Paris was also temporarily shrouded in dust by the artists, which happened in 1985.

It was important to Christo and Jeanne-Claude that they were both named as the artists behind their joint work. The packing led to the abstraction of the objects or buildings. They wanted their art to be accessible to everyone and they hoped to get people to see the world in a different way.
