The artist presents about fifteen paintings on canvas and figurative drawings. On view until July 17

An accomplished artist, already exhibited in Paris, Madrid, London and New York, Charlotte de Maupeou is passing through Périgueux (Dordogne) for the opening of her new exhibition.

Vermeer reinterpreted

From June 15 to July 17, Galerie 66, located rue Saint-Front, presents fifteen of his works: paintings on canvas and figurative drawings. Contemporary and curious art lovers will be able to discover the reinterpreted portraits of “The Girl with a Pearl Earring” or “The Girl with the Red Hat”, famous paintings by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. But also floral arrangements and the face of a character resembling that of “Fife”, painted by Manet. “His work and his reference to the history of art seduced me”, explains Catherine Aerts, the gallery owner.

“Even for people who do not have a great knowledge of the history of art, these are images that the brain knows”, adds the artist who works on canvas and paper. A medium that she particularly likes: “On paper, you can work much faster, more freely”, she confides, expressing her desire to “transmit her emotions”.

The opening will take place on Tuesday, June 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.
