Lectures: 174

This Thursday CONDEPP leaders met with the director of INDESPA, mr. Leonardo Llanos Huerta, within the framework of the presentation of the guidelines that the institution proposes for artisanal fishing.

At the meeting, the leaders raised the concern of the Artisanal Fishermen about the decrease in the budget of the organization that supports artisanal fishermen and fishermen.

At the end of the meeting, Hernán Cortés, president of CONDEPP (National Council for the Defense of Fishing Heritage AG) pointed out that: “reducing INDESPA’s budget is reducing the opportunities for artisanal fishermen, we are already at a disadvantage compared to the Industry regarding to fractionation and this is a hard blow “

Regarding the meeting, his reaction was: “We value the intentions of Mr. Leonardo Llanos, but we need more than good intentions, we require that in the New Fisheries Law justice be done with artisanal fishing, with a social platform and improving fractionation, particularly sardines, which should be 100% artisanal”.

Likewise, Hernán Machuca, spokesperson for the group, stated that: “Artisanal fishermen live in uncertainty: if we will be able to go fishing, if we will return, if there will be a red tide, tidal waves, or if the resource is scarce. INDESPA’s support is essential for the development of the sector”

The following attended on behalf of CONDEPP: Hernán Cortés, President; Hernán Machuca, spokesperson; Ramón Chaparro, Treasurer; Jorge Bustos, vice president and Rubén Castillo, secretary of minutes.
