Dismissed by Juventus, Arthur Melo is getting closer to arriving at OM.
After a very eventful summer transfer window, Olympique de Marseille wants to do it again next winter. If the club will not recruit as much as this summer, it still intends to strengthen in certain key positions, particularly in midfield. In this sense, the name of Arthur Melo has been emerging in recent days. The file has even seen new data in recent hours.
OM in search of a new midfielder
OM was very active on the transfer market this summer. The club has made a dozen recruits to strengthen its squad and especially its midfield. For this position, Olympique de Marseille has enlisted players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Adrien Rabiot, Ismael Koné and Valentin Carboni.
But after 7 days of the championship, only the first proves to be 100% fit while Rabiot does not yet have 90 minutes in his legs. For their part, Ismael Koné has suffered physical problems recently, just like Valentin Carboni, injured and out for several months. A situation which reinforced OM’s idea of recruiting a new midfielder. And several names are associated with the Marseille club, including that of Arthur Melo.

Arthur Melo opens the door to OM
Olympique de Marseille does not intend to wait until the end of the season and wants to recruit a new midfielder next winter. The Olympian club’s priority target in this position was Ismael Bennacer. But the Algerian international has already closed the door to a departure from AC Milan. Thus, we learned a week ago that OM had set their sights on Reda Belahyane and especially on Arthur Melo.
And if Foot Mercato denies the club’s interest in the Brazilian international, the former Barça player would see himself playing under the orders of Roberto De Zerbi in Marseille. “In January we will look for a new team, he is no longer in Juventus’ plans. A future at Olympique de Marseille? It was a possibility last summer, he would fit into De Zerbi’s system,” said his agent, Federico Pastorello, this Monday.
