Arthur Germain is stopping off in Rouen this Saturday on his descent from the Seine. The 19-year-old adventurer through this approach wants to raise awareness of the pollution of the river. For more than 40 days, he has been descending it from its source in Côte-d’Or. It should arrive in Le Havre on Saturday July 24.
“A return to nature”
“Physically and mentally there are ups and downs, but I really feel that I have finished the adventure. I have reserve“, smiles Arthur germain. “After 41 days my body is used to the effort”, continues the young man of 19 years to France Bleu Normandie.

Throughout his stages, Arthur Germain is applauded by the French who come to see him, touched by his approach. “There are always smiles, they are always happy. It’s a bit of a big party along the way. The ecological message is on the safe side. People are happy that I am carrying this cause. I think they project themselves into what I do, it’s a bit of a return to nature and I think people relate to it“, explains the young man.
“Make people love the Seine, respect it”
In the water, most of the time he is alone. But François Guillotte, 65 years old and from Le Havre, accompanies him on his journey, but by bike. “I am in love with the Seine, I absolutely share his ambition to make the river known, to make it loved, to make it respected“, explains Le Havrais.
Every day, he goes down the Seine but by bike, takes pictures of Arthur Germain and recounts his exploits on social networks. “This is the first time in my life that I have given myself time. I dreamed of doing this little report on the Seine and the announcement of the project was a kick in the ass to get me started“, smiles the one who is now enjoying his retirement.
With his three bags and his bike, he will go to the end of the adventure alongside that of Arthur Germain. “When you’re driven by a project, nothing else matters. My daily life is spotting Arthur, waiting for Arthur and resorting to Arthur to catch up with him“, he concludes.
