Arthur Fils continues to gain ground. The 19-year-old Frenchman, 44th in the world, was called to participate in the sixth edition of the Laver Cup (September 22 to 24), a competition created under the leadership of Roger Federer.
The principle is simple: over three days, the competition pits two teams of six players representing Europe and the “rest of the world” respectively in matches in two winning sets plus a super tie-break as a third set.
Monfils among the starters
Currently with the French Davis Cup team, Arthur Fils will be the replacement for the Europe team when Christopher Eubanks will be for the World team. They will be required to compete if some of the starters get injured or withdraw from the event.

Team Europe will be represented by Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Hubert Hurcacz and Frenchman Gaël Monfils. Team World will be able to count on Taylor Fritz, France Tiafoe, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Francisco Cerundolo.
In any case, it’s a great recognition for Arthur Fils. In 2023, the Frenchman won his first singles title in Lyon, becoming the youngest Frenchman to win a title on the ATP circuit since Monfils in 2005. He also performed its entry into the top 50.
