Spaniard Mikel Arteta has renewed his contract with Arsenal until 2027.
To face City
According to “The Athletic”, the Spanish coach, who had a contract until June 2025, renews his commitment to the ‘Gunners’ for three years, a club he joined in 2019 as a replacement for Unai Emery and with which has won an FA Cup in 2020.
Arteta has also managed to make Arsenal competitive again, which has been runners-up in the last two editions of the Premier League and has qualified for the Champions League the last two seasons, ending a six-year absence from the top continental competition.
The Spaniard has received reinforcements this summer in the form of Raheem Sterling, Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori and is looking to challenge Manchester City, champions of the last four leagues, for the English throne. At the start of the season, Arsenal have seven points, after two wins and a draw.
This Sunday they will visit Tottenham Hotspur in a match marked by the absences in midfield due to injuries to Martin Odegaard and Merino and the suspension of Declan Rice.
