The Telegraph informs this Wednesday that before going to Dubai for the winter training camp of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta made a detour by Denver (USA) to talk in person with Stan Kroenke, owner of Arsenal, in witnessing the Colorado Avalanche win over the Chicago Blackhawks in a National League hockey game. The discussions, however, did not revolve around the puck, but focused on the situation of the striker at the Emirates Stadium. Indeed the Gunners are looking for a number 9 capable of scoring every week, they who have scored only one goal in their last 5 meetings.

Likely beaten by Juventus in the race for Fiorentina star striker Dusan Vlahovic, Arteta was looking to see what amount was available in his quest for the providential goalscorer, knowing that his two leads are no easier to achieve. Indeed, Real Sociedad would not agree to release Alexander Isak against an amount lower than his release clause (91M€) and the player would not be inclined to move in January. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the last lead and would cost €60m. The two men also discussed the case of the club’s striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose name is mentioned in Marseille, in order to decide whether the latter will be loaned to a European club, while the club wanted to send him to Saudi Arabia.
