The Premier League clubs’ participation begins in the third round, and the Gunners’ match with Liverpool is supposed to be the last before a 13-day break, but if they tie, the two teams will be forced to play a rematch at Anfield during a rare break, amid local and European commitments. .
Arteta, whose team may participate in the updated version of the Champions League next season, said, “I think so,” when asked whether the English Association should cancel the replays.
He added in a press conference, “We will see what happens, because with the new format of the Champions League, there will be more matches (to play), so I do not know how we will be able to put them on the schedule.”
He added, “The (small) break will be short and we have plans for both scenarios. We want to win the match and we will try to do that, but (cancelling replays) is something that must be thought about.”
