In the survey, SMRC also discussed cases Dahlan’s arteries which alludes to ‘Sundanese’ to the electability of the PDI-P in West Java.
SMRC revealed that the polemic of Arteria’s statement had a negative effect on the PDI-P vote in West Java. Of the 66 residents who know about the case, only 14 percent are willing to vote for PDIP again in the 2024 election. Meanwhile, those who do not know will vote for PDIP with a percentage of 21 percent.
This influence is even greater if you look at SMRC’s data regarding the level of approval of West Java residents who consider Arteria to have offended the Sundanese ethnicity. Those who agreed that Arteria offended the Sundanese ethnicity, only voted for the PDI-P as much as 11 percent.
“The point is, this statement or case of Arteria Dahlan has an influence on the electability of the PDI-P in West Java,” said SMRC Program Manager Saidiman Ahmad.

West Java F-PDIP member Yunandar Eka Perwira assessed that West Java residents could distinguish between personal statements and party policies. However, he admitted that this case became a record for the West Java PDIP.
“The Arteria Dahlan case has had a slight impact on the PDI-P, especially in West Java. I see that the people of West Java are already able to distinguish between personal opinions and party policies, because the PDI-P highly upholds culture,” he said, Tuesday (15/2/2022).
As a native of West Java, Yunandar also admitted that he was angry with Arteria’s statement. He and the West Java PDI Perjuangan DPD management have also reported Arteria to the DPP to be given strict sanctions.
“Including myself as a Sundanese, I am very angry to see such a statement. We in West Java have submitted an application to the DPP to give a warning and punishment for what the members of the DPR RI have done,” he said.
“And hopefully, we also see that the DPR RI should be able to act through the MKD (Honorary Court of the Council). We leave everything to the DPP and DPR RI,” he continued.
