Bread is on fire!
This season is the most important for the New York Rangers. It looks like the time has come for this Blueshirts team to have its last chance – the Stanley Cup must be taken here and now, another opportunity is unlikely to arise. Igor Shesterkin, Alexis Lafreniere, Ryan Lindgren, K’Andre Miller are on the list of players who are out of contract next summer. It is obvious that the team needs at least some minor restructuring.
With almost everything at stake, the preseason games have been particularly frustrating for Rangers. No, not because of the results, everything was more or less normal with them – 4 wins in 6 games. The highest-paid Russian player in the National Hockey League upset club officials and fans of the team. Artemy Panarin suffered two injuries in a row – it would have been completely out of hand for New York to enter the main season without its leader.
But Khlebushek managed to recover and from the first game of the regular season he began to prove that last year’s 120 points is not something terrible for him. Rather, it is a guide. First, the Russians got a couple of assists in the opening game with Pittsburgh, which ended in a loss with a score of 6:0. And then he scored a double against Utah, although he did not beat the new team in the league – 5:6 in overtime.
“Artemy Panarin, as you remember, was injured. But in the two games at the start of the NHL regular season, he already scored points: two assists and two goals. I am confident in Artemy, he will show himself and he will continue to show a great game. Statistically, he will be ahead in any situation, it is a matter of time. Panarin has long been a full-fledged NHL star, this is not even debated,” – Alexander Chernykh, who represents the interests of the attacker, accepted such a performance.
Well, Artemy himself continued to confirm his star status on the night from Monday to Tuesday. In the game against Detroit, he got his first scoring point already in the middle of the first period. Everything turned out to be very simple – the Russian striker passed to Alexis Lafreniere, and he shot through Alex Lyon.
Second period – second helping. This time Panarin participated in a successful power play that ended with a goal from Chris Kreider.
And finally, a helpful hat trick! In the end, the Korkino bump could have scored itself, but he was not greedy and found Mika Zibanejad with a pass, setting the final score 4:1.
Panarin is only the fourth player in Rangers history to score more than one point in each of the three games of the season. Previously, only Chris Kreider, Bernie Nichols and Mike McEwan had managed this. An excellent performance, which once again proves that the Russians are determined to finish what he started and still lead New York to the Stanley Cup. Last season, the team stopped in the finals of the conference in the spring of 2025, it needs much more.
