Artemi Panarin beats Rodrigue Gilbert’s record in Rangers’ 5-3 victory – Courrier Frontenac

NEWARK, NJ — Jimmy Vesey and Artemi Panarin scored doubles on Saturday in a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils that allowed the New York Rangers to extend their streak to 11 games with at least one point.

Panarin established a mark in Rangers history by collecting a point in his 15th straight game to start the season. This is the longest streak of his career. He beat the old record belonging to Quebecer Rodrigue Gilbert.

Vesey broke the tie with 2:49 left with a backhand shot after a Tyler Pitlick shot. Blake Wheeler added an empty-net goal. Vincent Trocheck collected three assists.

Igor Shesterkin made 30 saves after missing four games with an undisclosed injury. The Rangers have a record of 10-0-1 in their last 11 meetings.

Jack Hughes was back in the Devils lineup after missing five games with an upper-body injury. He scored a goal and set up Erik Haula’s goal which gave the Devils a 3-2 lead at the start of the third.

Ondrej Palat was the other scorer for the Devils. Vitek Vanecek stopped 30 pucks.
