Ukrainian national team player Artem Dovbik could sign a contract with FC Girona much earlier than the summer of 2023. However, one important factor prevented him from changing his football residence.
According to sources, Girona bosses, primarily sporting director Quique Carcel, have been monitoring Artem’s progress over the past couple of years. True, signing a promising striker was not an easy task. The team previously played in the Spanish Segunda until the end of the 2021/22 season, and the Ukrainian forward was not interested in offers from clubs in the second leagues.
After Girona managed to rise and gain a foothold in the Spanish La Liga, Dovbik made a positive decision when an offer from the club arrived. Also, the decision of the 26-year-old football player was influenced by the fact that another Ukrainian football player Viktor Tsygankov played on the team, who in the shortest possible time was able to gain a foothold in the team with which he was achieving good results at that time (he signed a contract with the club six months earlier for Artem) .
Let us add that Dovbik has been playing in the colors of Girona since the summer of 2023. In the current season, he played for the new team in 17 matches, in which he scored 11 goals and 4 assists. Twice the Ukrainian was recognized as a player of the tour in the Spanish La Liga.
