The 27-year-old striker took 29th place according to the voting results. He shared it with his partner in the Romanian club – defender of the German national team Mats Hummels.
Dovbik spent last season in Spain’s Girona, where he was the top scorer for the Spanish Championship. He scored 24 goals, and added 10 assists. The team emotionally finished in the top 3 of La Liga and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in history, and the striker was recognized as the best Catalan player of the season.
In the summer, Dovbik moved to Roma, and was the first Ukrainian in the history of the Wolves. The move cost the Romanians 32-33 million euros plus another 5-6 million in bonuses. Girona will also have a percentage of the attacker’s sales.
This season, Dovbik has 5 goals and one assist in 12 games. At the same time, Roma shows mediocre results at the beginning of the season – 11th place in Serie A and only one victory in the Europa League.
