The Board of Galicia just tendered the extension of the Avenida de la Diputación, which gives access to Sabón industrial estate. With a budget of almost six million euros and the start of works before the end of the year, the regional administration plans to streamline traffic in this business area and humanize the environment.
The objective of this comprehensive action is to solve the problems of traffic flow in that area to favor movements and make the movements of people who approach the polygon more comfortable and safer, according to the Xunta in a statement.
The project consists of the doubling of the lanes on Avenida de la Diputación, which will have 4 lanes along the entire route, between the elevated Sabón roundabout and that on Avenida de la Energía, where the ITV is located.
In the first section, between the Sabón roundabout and Embalse avenue, an additional lane will be undertaken in the direction of Coruña, with a direct connection to the access ramp to the lower level of the roundabout, which will improve traffic and the fluidity of heavy vehicles. Hard shoulders, sidewalks and an area with online parking will also be set up.
In the second section, between the Embalse and Fashion avenues, the lanes in each direction will be doubled and the parking area will be provided in line and sidewalk and shoulders. In addition, retaining walls will be built to save the problems with the existing plots.
In the third stretch, between the avenues of Fashion and Energy, the lanes separated by a physical median will be doubled, and sidewalks with 1 meter wide shoulders will be enabled on both margins.
The intervention includes the construction of two ‘turboglorietas’ at the intersections with Avenida del Embalse and Avenida de la Moda and a roundabout 36 meters in diameter at Avenida de la Energía. These infrastructures will allow for more comfortable and safe changes in traffic and turns.
Entrejardines bus stop, hospital expansion and rail connection to the outer port
The project has been presented by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ethel Vázquez. The PP candidate for A Coruña, number 9, also defends the Entrejardines stop of the metropolitan bus after the City Council proposed its transfer to port lands. “I don’t know when that will be, I think that stop is an example that with a little money it can be done a lot,” said the councilor. Ethel Vázquez pulls irony and sees far away that change of one of the main stops of the metropolitan transport.
The councilor has reproached the Council for the lack of response to the Xunta’s proposal on the expansion of the A Coruña Hospital Complex. 59 days waiting, he said.
Regarding the railway connection with the outer port, it urges the Government to tender the works and request European fundss. A project of the demanded infrastructure to Punta Langosteira that is “mature and complete”, in the words of Ethel Vázquez and that has been a year and a half without any progress.
